課程概述 |
Composition II is a year-long course that focuses on writing full-length essays. In the previous semester, we closely examined four important writing skills: summarizing, evaluating, synthesizing, and arguing. These together set the core foundation for academic writing. In this semester, we will continue practicing these skills by going deeper into the “They say – I say” dialogue. A range of templates will be shared to help you formulate more complex sentences, which are essential for building nuanced, insightful, and contextually-sensitive arguments. Towards the end of the semester, we will also go through some forms of writing that many of you will encounter when applying for exchange programs or graduate school. |

By the end of this course you will:
- Be more confident in engaging with – and responding to – different academic texts
- Advance your skills in summarizing, evaluating, synthesizing, and arguing
- Continue applying these skills in writing full-length essays
- Understand the basic principles for writing a strong curriculum vitae and statement of purpose
